I don't photograph weddings
Saying that first, plainly, so nobody discovers it three emails in. Wedding photography isn't something I offer.
What I do photograph: engagements, surprise proposals, engagement and elopement announcements, anniversaries, seasonal portraits, and couples who simply want good pictures of themselves together and never got around to it.
The goal isn't a nicer selfie
It's affection, friendship, chemistry, and how you two actually are with each other. Some couples are all over each other. Some are shoulder-to-shoulder and quietly devastating. Neither one needs fixing.
If you're camera-shy, we start with movement — walking, talking, laughing at something — before anything more deliberate. By the time we get to the intentional portraits you'll have forgotten to be self-conscious about it.
What we might do
Walking. Holding hands. Sitting and leaning into each other. Looking at one another instead of at me. A picnic setup. Something seasonal. Rings, hands, details. Your dog, leashed. Anywhere or anything that means something to the two of you — a place, an object, a story. Bring it.
Posing here is more collaborative than a family session. I'll show ideas, you'll pick what feels right, and I'll guide it from there. Nothing is ever adjusted by hand.
Surprise proposals
Yes, and start early. These need real planning — timing, where I stand, how I stay unnoticed, what happens in the ten minutes afterward. Message me well before the date.
What to wear
Coordinate, don't match. Avoid two competing patterns. Start from things you already own and feel good in — you'll look like yourselves rather than like you're in costume.

Short — one announcement-worthy set. Good when you already know the shot you want.
Standard — where most engagement sessions land. Time to walk, warm up, and get past the self-conscious part before the best frames happen.
Extended — two settings and an outfit change. Also the right choice for a proposal, since it leaves room for the walk-up, the moment itself, and the giddy half hour afterward, which is often where the best photographs are.

Questions about couples sessions
Do you photograph weddings?
No. I don't offer wedding photography, and I'd rather say so plainly than have you find out later. Engagements, proposals, engagement and elopement announcements, anniversaries and just-because portraits are all welcome.
What counts as a couples session?
Engagements, surprise proposals, announcement photographs, elopement and anniversary sessions, seasonal portraits, or two people who simply want good photographs of themselves together and never got around to it.
We're awkward, and we're not big on public affection.
Then we won't force it. I usually start with movement and easy interaction — walking, talking, laughing at each other — before anything more intentional. Couples vary enormously in how they are together, and the goal is to photograph how you actually are, not a stock version of romance.
Can you help with a surprise proposal?
Yes, though it takes extra planning and a conversation well before the day. Message me early so we can work out timing, positioning and how to keep it a surprise.
Can we bring our dog?
Yes. Leashed, with waste bags and treats, and bring someone who can hold them if you want photographs without.
Can we do ring and detail shots?
Of course. Rings, hands, whatever detail matters to you. If there's an object with a story behind it, bring it.
